The Magnus ML-150+ is the result of 14 years of product development in professional horticulture. This Full Cycle LED grow light is therefore completely manufactured with an eye to the demanding use in commercial crop cultivation. This of course does not mean that the ML-150+ is not suitable for the serious hobby grower. On the contrary.
The ML-150+ is equipped with a COB LED. The COB technology makes it possible to keep the number of electronic parts in an LED grow light to a minimum, resulting in a very efficient energy consumption (or, the other way around, a very high light output) is reached. COB technology is considered the most powerful and efficient LED technology available today. In addition, the compact design of a COB LED and the large number of component light emitting diodes allow a much more precise adjustment of a specific light spectrum.
Far Red switch The ML-150+ is equipped with a switch with which the proportion of 'Far Red' light in the light spectrum can be switched on or off. Far Red is the specific red light part that is responsible for some interesting changes during a plant's life. For starters, the amount of Far Red a plant receives is responsible for when it from the growth phase to the flowering phase. Manipulation of the amount of Far Red in the growth phase therefore allows you to influence the time of that transition. Far Red also influences the duration of bud and flower formation. Manipulation of the amount of Far Red in the flowering phase thus makes it possible to influence the amount of buds and the compactness of your flowers.
'Standard White' spectrum
The Full Cycle spectrum of the Magnus ML-150+ Standard White is made up of a well thought-out combination of blue (growth) and red light (flowering), which the ML-150+ PRO is also equipped with. However, this spectrum was supplemented with yellow and green light for the ML-150+ Standard White. The latter ensures that the radiated light is not blue-purple, but white. Many growers prefer white light to a purple-blue glow because white light is much more pleasant to the eyes and because, moreover, the crop looks much more 'natural' under white light. The addition of the yellow and green light does have a negative influence on the growth and flowering vigor of the original Full Cycle spectrum. The green-yellow light part has no effect on the performance of your plants, but it does have to be excited. This is somewhat at the expense of the efficiency of the red and blue light.
All Magnus models were equipped with the now famous parabolic, 120° lens. This crystal-clear glass lens ensures a particularly even light distribution over the growing surface and between the leaves. Another property of the parabolic lens is that all wavelengths that make up the light spectrum used are equally transmitted. A measurement of the radiated light will therefore teach you that already from 40 cm from the lamp the spectrum of the ML-150+ corresponds exactly to the Magnus graph shown below this article.
The aluminum housing contains the highest quality components that are cooled passively, i.e. without a fan. This makes the Magnus ML-150+ a noiseless, very solid and interference-free LED grow light. It is therefore not a great risk for Magnus to provide a full three-year warranty on every ML-150+.
